Dolomites Day 6 - Lago di Braies

Woke up at 4am to come here, which was strategically only 10 minutes drive away from our stay.

And we thought we’re early…

Alpenglow started to pull in.

So beautiful, masyaAllah!

There was even a couple here, as early as 6am.

Went back to our stay for breakfast.

They prepared breakfast spread for each rooms, on separate dining table.

And the spread was incredible. It was one of the most memorable breakfast spread I’ve ever had in my life.

First time having that donut peach, we fell in love. So juicy, sweet and fragrant.

Food kept on coming. This ricotta cheese were made from their own cows, and the eggs were also from their own farm.

This is the now owner of this property. He’s the 4th generation if I’m not mistaken. He spoke German but his son was there to translate everything we said.

and this is his wife who cooked everything on the very old stove that I was so intrigued about when I saw it the night before.

This property used to be the only property on this hill, back in 1940. When we learned this from the photos around the house, we quickly realized how privileged we were to get to stay there, even for a night.

After breakfast, we walked around the property.

The room was actually very comfortable and spacious.

The living room.

The bathroom.

The hallway leading to the dining room (on the right) and the kitchen (on the left). It’s surprisingly very cold in here.

Time to check out from this amazing stay.

One for the memory.

And it started to rain when we’re leaving the Dolomites. Exactly how our hearts felt at the moment.

We had to drive through Passo Giau to get back to Venice and saw there was a trail running event going on so we did a quick stop there.

After a quick toilet break at the rifugio and cheering some runners, we’re back on the road. Switchback for days.

Took us a while to figure out how to fill in gas in Italy.

The gas station has a cafe. Of course we had to get a cuppa.

We learned that Bristot is a roaster from Dolomites and they are very good.

Unplanned lunch stop at Lago Sofia.

Another cup because why not.

There was a short track to a waterfall started from the cafe where we had lunch.

We hit the road again to Venice to return the rental car and that’s the end of our Dolomites adventure. Truly the best place on earth. We will come back, for sure.
