Abby & Fatah

The Wedding of Abby Nur Faiqah & Fatah Emir

25 Nov 2023

Putra Glasshouse, Selangor

Sealing the 2023 season with a wedding that speak to my heart like none other. Everything about this wedding was so intentionally curated to the smallest details. Abby, the baby of the family, loves pink. So she has pink and blue beads on her @tehfirdaus dress, sapphire engagement ring, same as Fatah’s mum’s wedding ring and a symbol of freedom for Abby’s mum, garnet wedding ring as it’s Abby’s birthstone, and everyone, from both sides of families wearing blue for her something blue, paired with pink corsage. Seeing how bonded Abby’s mum with Fatah’s all girls siblings and mum, gave me warm fuzzy feelings inside. She put on corsages for them, making sure Abby always look her best, running around here and there making sure everything was perfect, so the shot where Abby was trying to calm her down and fixing her hijab while she fan herself with a laminated paper, deserved a spotlight.

If I haven’t mentioned it enough, the attention to details Abby has is truly remarkable. Remember the signage on the door, prohibiting anyone to come into the room while she’s getting ready, that has to be one of the most appreciated little thing for us crews. Not only that we limit the crowds inside the room while everyone’s trying to focus on dolling her up but it also leads to a very genuine first look reveal. Seeing how everyone was truly in awe of how Abby looked, her mum kept clapping and cheering for her, Fatah’s mum blowing kisses, Fatah’s sisters giving hearts in all hand signs possible and even shed a tear, to a point that Abby was so touched, she couldn’t keep hers in; that was truly a special moment and one of my favs. And the first frame is her trying so keep it in while her mum, in her true nature, fixing Abby’s veil.

I forgot to mention that they both wrote letters for each other to read before they’re off to be wedded. Abby, being the one with big emotions, cried while reading it, while Fatah, barely showed any emotions but I know he kept everything inside (I took a peek at the letter and its’s πŸ₯Ί). This whole getting ready was just over an hour but it was perfectly curated for everyone and packed with emotions and feelings.

β€œYou like because and you love despite”, a line from Abby’s letter to Fatah. I love that line. If you think about the concept of soulmates, it’s not about 2 people of the same interest, magically bonded to be each other’s companions. It’s about tolerating and completing each other’s strengths and weaknesses. And I see that in them. They are a complete opposite of each other, but they love despite. I see how Abby loves to annoy Fatah but he managed it, and how Fatah despite being about 7yrs older than Abby, but he’s more like a baby to his mum. As what Abby said, β€œmama’s boy dia ni”. They walked together to the dais and before he took his seat, he hugged his mum and she kissed him. And midway through the event when he got gastric attack, her mum got him fruits and snacks and forced him to eat. I guess, to everyone, Abby is the baby but to Abby, Fatah is.

I love to see how Abby’s dad recorded his daughter at every chance he got. He was quite emotional during the entire akad and his β€œsend off” speech, which changed the air a little bit. But Abby being the sunshine that she is, switched it up with her infectious bright smiles at an instant. Her reactions to everything was truly a sight for sore eyes. We had so much fun that we didn’t even feel like we were working. It was indeed a nice ending to the season. Also Abby, I think your mum finally got the wedding of her dreams, and so did you 🀍
